The self-drive offers great freedom of movement and it is for this reason that it is so appreciated by travelers. There are two formulas for traveling in Morocco: the self-drive or a circuit with a driver-guide. We create tailor-made trips, share your desires with our local expert!
If you decide to travel freely with a rental car, on your arrival in Morocco, a representative of our local agency in Morocco will welcome you and give you a roadbook (or "travel diary"). This booklet contains all the information necessary for the smooth running of your tour.
You will find cultural and historical information there but also very detailed practical information for your orientation, in particular the directions to take to go from such to such city, but also extracts of road map, hiking routes located near your circuit. Your accommodation will of course be specified there, as well as the access route. The car will be returned to you according to what has been agreed, either at the airport or at your hotel.
You travel alone, your roadbook serving as a guide. You have total freedom of action, the only requirement for you is to arrive at the hotel planned to spend the night. So you can stop at will in the places that inspire you, go at your own pace, without constraint.
The great advantage of this formula is also to travel as a family or as a couple, without the presence of a third person. However, it is possible to provide a specialist local guide to visit certain cultural sites, depending on possibilities and availability.
On the vehicle side, it can vary but most of the time it will be of the 4x4 type, suitable for winding roads. We can offer you Dacia Logan, or Duster. They are air conditioned and you can request a GPS if you wish.
When it comes to driving, be aware that the rules of the road are the same, apart from the slightly different speed limits. On the other hand, the rules are not observed to the letter, which implies in particular unwavering vigilance, especially in large cities such as Marrakech. Red lights, for example, will not be systematically observed.
It is also possible to opt for the formula with a driver only. He will take you from one stopover to another, and will have all the vouchers (vouchers) in his possession to allow you to enter the places you are visiting. The invaluable benefit will be that your driver knows the area, both the roads and where to park.
With this formula, you will have a driver and a guide with you. Your guide will know the customs and traditions of the country, which he can tell and explain to you as you discover them during your trip. He can also facilitate contact with the local population, possibly acting as a translator if necessary. Another advantage of being accompanied will be the possibility of really getting off the beaten track, since they will know the location of lesser-known sites that are just as beautiful, if not more, than the usual tourist passing places.
You will be transported in a top-of-the-range 4x4 or minibus type vehicle, which is very suitable for chaotic roads or even off-road trips. There is a schedule, but that doesn't prevent you from stopping when you want to.
