From our bivouac in the middle of the desert, you finish your descent from Oued Drâa by the schoolchildren's path which ends up in the big Erg of Chegaga. From M’Hamid, the last village at the end of the road, it’s off-piste that you approach the great Ergs of the South to reach the highest and most extensive erg, ‘ Chegaga’. At the exit of M’Hamid, you will meet “poop dots” and some palm trees, acacias and scattered tamarisks. Then nature becomes more and more desert: ergs made up of dune cords and real mountains of sand as far as the eye can see. You take advantage of the late afternoon lights to take a nice stroll through the dunes and admire the latest gleams of the sun at the top of these sand mountains.
