Overview

- 9 Days Luxury Tour From Agadir Between Dunes And Ocean

Because the landscapes crossed are an integral part of the trip, the road trip is the preferred format for discovering southern Morocco. With your rental car, you have complete freedom and can stop wherever you want. The journeys are never too long and always bring their share of discoveries and surprises. Apart from a few rare, slightly rougher tracks - we brief you before departure - the roads are paved and allow you to easily link one stage to another. So that you don't miss anything essential, we have planned stopovers in several grandiose sites, where we have already organized some activities: bird watching with a specialist in the Souss-Massa natural park and private stroll through the Berber villages from the Taroudant region. As for hotels, you are always housed in charming establishments, surrounded by nature and out of sight. In Massa, this is an adorable guest house nestled in a peaceful setting; in Guelmim, an intimate refuge that plays hide and seek with the desert; contemporary kasbahs with swimming pools and panoramic views at Tafnidilt and Tafraoute; in Mirleft, an old fort renovated with respect for Moroccan traditions; and in Taroudant, a superb vegetable retreat, in the heart of an olive grove and amazing gardens. Some also offer hammam and spa, so that relaxation is complete. At any time, if you face a hitch or have a sudden urge, you have the contact details of our English-speaking concierge on site who is there to advise you and ensure the smooth running of the trip.

Itinerary

- 9 Days Luxury Tour From Agadir Between Dunes And Ocean

Day 1 DAY 1 : Flight to Agadir - Massa

Flight to Agadir. Upon arrival, pick-up of the rental vehicle and road to Massa (1h). Installation for two nights in a guest house facing the ocean, on a large sandy beach. It is a haven of calm and serenity, lost some fifty kilometers south of Agadir and nestled in the heart of Souss-Massa National Park, a precious reserve of birds. Flamingos, blue tits, common cranes and other bald ibis inspired the name of the rooms, each with its own enchanting tone. Typical decoration of southern Morocco for the Cormorant, where the Berber rugs found in the souk become bedspreads. Florentine yellow and garish blue in the Magpie, an ideal size room for families. Impressions Marrakech, tadelakt and moucharabié for the Teal. With its alcoves, red hangings, and its fireplace, the Seagull is the favorite nest of lovers. And, for all, swimming pools, spa, hammam, whirlpool and massages guarantee relaxation and disconnection. Walking Time: 1h to 2h Driving time: 1h to 2h (100 km) Meals included: breakfast Accommodation : Hotel : Option - Confort : Option - Luxury : Steps : Agadir

Day 2 DAY 2 : Massa

On the program - A guided walk in the bird sanctuary. Accompanied by a specialist, we set off on a magnificent two-hour walk along the river which flows into the ocean. The mouth of Massa is a migratory stopover and wintering place for many birds between Europe and Africa. Armed with your binoculars, very early in the morning or at the end of the day, you meet ducks, flamingos, gray herons and, if you are lucky, bald ibises - the last colonies of this species in the process of disappearance remain in the park. Walking Time: 2h to 3h Driving time: 1h to 2h (105 km) Meals included: breakfast Accommodation : Hotel : Option - Confort : Option - Luxury : Steps : Agadir

Day 3 DAY 3 : Massa - Guelmim

Road to Guelmim (2h30), former caravan center on the road to Timbuktu. On the way, stop at Tiznit, a charming village whose medina is hidden behind imposing ramparts, preserving all the mysteries of the "blue sultan". It is the legendary El Hiba of Mauritania, who reigned at the beginning of the 20th century over the entire Souss region as far as Marrakech. A break allows you to walk through the pretty alleys of the medina, the alleys of the jewelers' souk which makes the city famous, and have lunch in a pleasant restaurant serving traditional Moroccan dishes. There is also no shortage of the old souk, with its fascinating architecture made up of colonnades and patios where artisans work for money. After crossing the last links of the Anti-Atlas, Guelmim emerges from a vast oasis. Famous for its picturesque weekly camel market, the town is also home to a souk with a wide variety of local crafts. Installation for one night on the outskirts of the city, in a superb desert environment of perfect tranquility. A handful of simple and comfortable rooms welcome visitors behind ocher-pink walls, similar to those of the desert. We are very close to the White Beach. Walking Time: 1h to 2h Driving time: 2h to 3h (105 km) Meals included: breakfast, Dinner Accommodation : Hotel : Option - Confort : Option - Luxury : Steps : Agadir , Guelmim

Day 4 DAY 4 : Guelmim - Tafnidilt

Road to Tafnidilt (3h) along the Plage Blanche track. This name, given by Spanish navigators, refers to an impressive sandy beach that stretches continuously for 50 kilometers. The tiny village of Tafnidilt is located north of Tan-Tan, bordering Wadi Draa. It is surrounded by aesthetic canyons and sand dunes, enjoying an exceptional panorama. Installation for the night in an establishment which takes up the architecture of the kasbahs of the South, character and cachet included. On site, guests have everything they need: comfortable rooms, a swimming pool, a bar, a restaurant ... and superb views! Built on a rocky promontory, the place offers a panoramic view of the mouth of the Draa wadi and the Tafnidilt Fort. Walking Time: 1h to 2h Driving time: 3h to 4h (200 km) Meals included: breakfast, Dinner Accommodation : Hotel : Option - Confort : Option - Luxury : Steps : Guelmim, Tafnidilte

Day 5 DAY 5 : Tafnidilt - Mirleft

Road to Mirleft (3h), going north via Sidi Ifni, a small Hispanic town. Night on the heights of Mirleft, in an old fort from 1935 converted into a guest house. Admirably renovated by local artisans in the spirit of Moroccan traditions, the address is full of charm, while remaining quite raw, unadorned. The tastefully decorated rooms have mountain or sea views, with a splendid panorama of Mirleft. Between two walks, you can relax in the swimming pool or in the wood-fired hammam. Walking Time: 1h to 2h Driving time: 2h to 3h (200 km) Meals included: breakfast, Dinner Accommodation : Hotel : Option - Confort : Option - Luxury : Steps : Tafnidilt - Mirleft

Day 6 DAY 6 : Mirleft - Tafraoute

Road to Tafraoute (3h) via the very beautiful road which climbs up to the Kerdous pass (1100 meters above sea level), in the Anti-Atlas region, mountains covered with argan and almond trees. Installation for the night in a contemporary sand-colored kasbah set in the heart of the Ammeln valley. The building, full of charm despite its young age, houses a few rooms in the sober Berber style. From the terrace, the swimming pool or the deckchairs, you can see the steep mountains and the "lion", a zoomorphic rock sculpted by erosion. Walking Time: 1h to 2h Driving time: 2h to 3h (200 km) Meals included: breakfast, Dinner Accommodation : Hotel : Option - Confort : Option - Luxury : Steps : Mirleft - Tafraoute

Day 7 DAY 7 : Tafraoute - Taroudant

Road to Taroudant (3h) through steep landscapes. Before heading north, you can stop at the blue rocks painted by the Belgian Jean Vérame, south of Tafraoute. A surprising vision in the middle of the ocher desert. On the way, we do not miss the palm grove of Tioute where, in lush landscapes, we can visit a female cooperative of argan oil - Moroccan elixir with many virtues -, lunch with the locals or in a local restaurant , and discover the old kasbah which overlooks the valley. Installation for two nights on the edge of a 40 hectare olive grove and a few hundred meters from the impregnable ramparts of Taroudant, within a unique domain, managed in an eco-responsible manner. Once through the door, a whole plant universe unfolds before our eyes - unusual plants from arid regions, with surprising shapes and rare colors that create, over the seasons, true paintings of nature. These amazing gardens were designed by two big names in international landscape design. The places were imagined to preserve the privacy of each and in the respect of ancestral techniques - sets built in natural materials by local craftsmen, no fault of taste. Between moments of sharing and relaxation, we are here as if in suspense. Walking Time: 1h to 2h Driving time: 2h to 3h (200km) Meals included: breakfast, Dinner Accommodation : Hotel : Option - Confort : Option - Luxury : Steps : Tafraoute - Taroudant

Day 8 DAY 8 : Taroudant

Off the tourist paths, Taroudant, in the plain of Souss, is protected by high ocher walls which alone are worth the trip. The city, the former capital, is the heir to a long history of which it has kept pride and taste for business. It has a small medina, souks with modest but dynamic dimensions, beautiful gardens and a spirit full of seduction. On the program - Day in Berber villages. Nestled in the mountains near terraced crops, Berber villages renowned for their pottery, olive or argan oils reveal to the visitor their ancestral charm and traditions. We have lunch with the locals, the opportunity to meet a people in their daily lives. To see, to do - Browse the souk where the locals come to buy extra quality slippers and famous camel leather goods - enjoy Berber cuisine outdoors at the Jnane Soussia restaurant - walk along the ramparts promenade recently returned to their chandelier - visit Freija, a small fortified village on the south bank of the Souss. Walking Time: 2h to 3h Driving time: 1h to 2h (50 km) Meals included: breakfast, Dinner Accommodation : Hotel : Option - Confort : Option - Luxury : Steps : Taroudant

Day 9 DAY 9 : Taroudant - Return flight

Before leaving Taroudant, there is no shortage of going to visit the Palace Museum of Claudio Bravo, a Chilean hyperrealist painter. Its color palette is inspired by the Italian Renaissance and the Spanish Baroque. Each piece of his magnificent property constitutes a small museum all by itself, by the presence of paintings and works of art collected over the years. Road to Agadir airport (1h), return of the vehicle and return flight.

You'll notice prices are not often listed on items in the souqs, so evaluate what you're willing to pay and come prepared to bargain with the shopkeeper - it's all part of the fun!

Leather Goods
Fez

Moroccan leather is highly unique and the centuries-old tanning techniques are still practiced across the country today. The most famous tannery is Chouara Tanner of Fez, making it the perfect place to purchase quality, hand-crafted leather goods including slippers, bags, jackets, belts and wallets. Prices for leather goods start at approximately 10 USD.

Berber Rugs
Countrywide

Berber rugs and carpets are traditionally the craftwork of nomadic women from the Middle Atlas region and date back to the 2nd century BC. They are made from virgin wool from the sheep and can be found in souqs across Marrakech in all shades, sizes and shapes. Rug shopowners will encourage you into their store with the offer of tea, but feel no obligation to buy. Rug prices may range from 50 to 1,000+ USD.

Argan Oil
Essauoira & Agadir

Used by the local Amazigh people for its healing properties, Argan Oil is immensly popular in Morocco. It is common to see women sitting on the front step of beauty shops crushing the kerns of the argan tree into paste, which is sold cosmetically for its healing properties to skin and hair. The regions surrounding Essauira and Agadir are the only places in the world where the specific tree grows. In this region you can purchase a quality 150ml bottle of the oil for approximately 20 USD.
